Valentine’s day is looming very near
Well I’v just heard something my friend has done that’s filled me with so much cheer

Tho they have been married for over thirty years
The fine art of romance is still so strong, I have no doubt nor fears

You see she sent her hubby an email
Cordially inviting him to a meal
With not just any old dishes
Oh no her recipes has the ‘Wow’
appeal

The invitation was clever, formal note
Addressed to her husband & I quote:
“My dearest husband
You are cordially invited to dine
On Valentines day with fine wine
Please RSVP if this is so
I should be delighted if you could go
6pm, don’t be late
I shall meet you at our garden gate
The chosen address you will know
Our humble dwelling the lodge “Moonbow”

Her ‘Entree’ sounds so devine
Smoked salmon, a particular favourite of mine
Served with horseradish creme fraiche & vodka beetroot salad
An amazing appetiser surely in the league of a classic ballad

Mmm for her main, wetting his appetite again
Roast chicken with garlic,
Apple & cider
‘Crikey Moses’ shes such a ‘Cordon bleu’ provider !!

Her chosen dessert sounds so deliciously yummy
That’s if hubby has any room left in his tummy
Tipsy ice cream gateau laced with ‘Provence’ rose wine
Wowsas well aren’t the two of them going to share a romantic dine

Moral of this true ditty is so very plain to say
Valentines day can still be celebrated
even if one is slightly matured with streaks of aging grey

This lovely couple I am pleased to call my good friends
Share romantic gestures
Which will reap positive dividends
Forever embracing opportunities
‘Good love will never die’
Rekindling the sparks for an old flame
In the blink of an eye ❤️
