Meeting God in The Mundane

My ankle twirls the foot hooked to it with its toes wiggling
My hair twists through my fingers
I take a deep breath through my face mask
Warm and cool air circulates around my chin
My elbow leans upon a bedside table as I flick through musics of taste to flow through this headset
My eyes close to break up the monotony
The plain yellow curtains and hospital lino
To break it up with memories and fantasies that play on the screens of my eyelids
And I wait
Wait for her to wake up
Wait to put on a happy face
Wait to be creative and flexible
Wait for the unexpected
Perhaps this time she'll make sense
Or perhaps she won't
I tap the floor to the rhythm in my ears
I return to a childlike openness
A state of being adults sacrifice to money gods
I regress into that prior incarnation
Ready to delight in the sane and the insane
Ready to love
Unconditionally
