MEMORIES OF THE COUNTRY FAIR

MEMORIES OF THE COUNTRY FAIR

Off we went to the country fair
in the fields, breathing clean fresh air
Stalls all laden, with homemade foods
the smells entice, to buy the goods

Carousels turning, music playing
children smiling,  happy laughing
A man with a hook to snare a duck
hoopla the game come try your luck

A pig is turning,sizzling on a spit
mouths are watering for a tasty bit
A picnic is spread upon the grass
everyone gather round raise a glass

Give thanks to god, for this food we eat
tuck in enjoy, hunger pangs retreat
Great family times spent, at the country fair
memories so happy.. when we all, were there.

hey deborah, what a cool poem this is....you perfectly captured all the senses with this one, and I believe that if someone came off a spaceship and had no idea what a country-fair was they would want to go check one out, terrific writing that captures the essence, love the subject matter as well, enjoyed a ton....cheers my friend

Hi Debs,

Those lovely time from the past when we were the children, together with our parents, aunts, uncles and frivolous cousins, at the wonderful family get together.  Oh, those beautiful memories.  So young.  So innocent.  So puerile.  Nice words.  Super nostalgic.

Hugs, Peace and Love,

xox Larry

HI Larry  I agree  great memories.
Us children would be so excited for weeks before the  day
of the country fair, saving pennies for weeks  to spend
Thank you for your comments glad you enjoyed
