In memory of september 11th 2001

Today, may we take a moment,
Aminutes silence or a prayer,
As we remember the innocent lives,
Who on september 11th we lost there,
That fatal day which began,
A normal day for everone,
Millions of ordinary people,
Knowing nothing of what was about to become,
Going about their everyday lives,
Walking on by or stopping to talk,
Unaware that today,would change,
Forever in new york,
At 8.45AM,
September 11 2001,
New york as every one knew it,
Witnessed terrorist attack number one,
A hijacked plane descended,
Hit the first of the two twin towers,
A fatal attack that was soon to emerge,
More to come in the forthcoming hours,
The second plane and attack,
Carried such fear for all to see,
TheĀ events to follow,Ā unbearable,
Shock, terror, disbelief,
The sky filled with fire,
And screams all around,
searching for shelter to save themselves,
Devestation all over the ground,
As the fires blew out of control,
As the screams filled the air,
Peopl searching for safety of loves ones,
Crying out names in sheer dispair,
One last call to her husband,
Telling him good bye,
She was a victim on the hijacked planes,
And she was just about to die,
The office that he worked in,
Torn apart in a single beat,
He never stood a chance,
In the raging fire and heat,
Children lost their mummies,
And daddies and siblings too,
A goodbye was never made possible,
They would never again get to do,
Firefighters battled on,
To save as many as they could find,
But for most it was just too late,
Leaving distorted memories behind,
Volunteers and police joined the search,
For survivors of that day,
So many had already lost thier lives,
In the most horrific , tragic ways,
The memories live on,
Of the fallen and the brave,
And soldiers who, today fight on,
In rememberance of that day....
