Memory of Youth

Memory of Youth

My Childhood; a lighter shade of grey
As I look back.
Trying to remember what the shadows say
I try desperately try not to lose track
The shadows mingle into a soup of thought
Melting down in my grown up worries
Until they are all but gone
Such a travesty…..
Not to lose the innocence of youth,
But the memory of it.
The ebb and flow of modern life
Like a cancer outgrows the shadow of the former self
Leaving us empty; struggling to find a new kind of wealth
Materialistic crutches to entangle our soul
But in truth without the memory of youth
We can never again be whole.
