Poem -

Merry Xmas from the Libyan desert ?

He is flying on an aeroplane
Gonna leave it all behind
This yuletide festivity
is not what he has in mind

Jack is a fearless fisherman
Braving storms with seas so rough
Fifteen long hard years hes served
But today he has had enough

His weather beaten face
is going to soak up severe sun
Hes organised a six month break
To see his friend, a Libyan

On the outskirts of the desert
Hassan owns a stone square shelter
Marbled floors with large open frames
To accomodate the swelter

He is an Arab
so well used to heat as hot
His visitor from England
Jack Page is certainly not

However Jack is on his way
To face an unfamiliar lands
But he has Hassan & his huge family
So will be in a safe & friendly hands

Hes optimistic whilst apprehensive
The plights that he will endure
This lad has never travelled far
So Hassan has planned his tour

He left his car behind,
his transport will be a mammal
Hassan owns a caravan of his own
So is giving Jack a camel

One can only imagine
the wonderous customs that he will learn
His weather beaten skin
will be replaced with bronzed sunburn
