Midnight Gospel

a ballad for those in need

Midnight Gospel

in the dead of night,
when the moon is just right,
look out your window,
you’ll see it as I do.
These broken angels,
on a drouzy flight,
are making their way,
through this pitiless night.
these broken angels,
battered wings,
tip toe around,
without a sound,
in sync.
I ask you to use that sixth sense,
and ponder awhile,
at just why,
their teary faces are held in such light,
notice the feathers,
long since plucked and scarred,
were they there in the first place,
if there at all.
watch them dance,
and then you may witness,
how it appears,
when an angels walls have crumbled down,
how they truly rise,
amid all the forces that deny their flight
how the moonlight,
makes them oh so bright
they share the midnight gospel,
a sound for the broken,
for only at midnight,
are those fears betoken,
only then, can the melody hit just right,
when all healed, are in bed tucked tight.
this gospel is for the dreamers,
the believers and thrill seekers,
ones broken yet fighting,
a ballad for the embittered,
opportunity to see pain set free.
such remedies shalt never be hidden behind counters,
nor books,
nor songs,
would hold such wrongs,
this archangel gospel,
is a spell of the wrongdoings,
committed upon angels,
non deserving, nor imposing,
notice, the sky never appeared so bare,
for the crowd left awake,
are all broken members,
of this midnight dance.
all planets lean in,
for this gospel they speak in,
all the stars are together tonight,
for the crescendo is in need of unison
only they speak for the hooligans,
and betwix the day born,
they all rush home,
to endure all of the day before,
as the cycle roars,
and the terror bellows
notice the weight return
hence forth ceasing their flight,
by then you’ll notice the difference in light,
detect just when the fortress regains strength,
and all who depart,
are back to daylight form,
where trials and turmoil,
greet them with a heavy embrace
just as before,
in daylight,
the play begins,
these broken angels know their role,
have preformed, long since they learned to roll.
if you watch,
you’ll see,
all the pain shuttered in,
as this silent release,
is anticipated for midnight.
where like before,
these broken angels may find each other
and sing once more,
this midnight gospel.
