Mince

Mince Pies
it's a little tart
and a bit of a mince
born to be frugal
not fit for a Prince
I can envisage
Old Ebenezer
What the Dickens !
is this little geezer!
it's a Christmas slice
it's a mince pie
it has cow fat and spice
and all must try
it's not french fancies
it's not trifle nor jelly
it's traditions pastries
for a Christmas belly
indulgently maturedÂ
rotundly bursting
suet and lard
without any custard
it's not my favourite..but
in my opulant hand
a little festive cake
reminds of a time
when life was pretty bleak

I just fancy a mince pie..never do at Christy though..xx Thanks SW..
Hey PAULINE!!....this is a perfectly well baked piece!! (pardon the pun)....but I have to say your well chosen words here make up some excellent phrasing that runs throughout and gives the reader the true feeling/sense of being in the "Christmas spirit".......It creates a wonderful tone for the whole as you wield succinctly sculpted phrases that do wonders for the minds eye!!......I enjoyed this very much.......PINNED for perfection!!.......Bravo dear poet sister!!......LOVE & ROCKETS!!........T xo : )
Thanks T....I've finally got into the Christmas spirit...too early or too late...lol
OMG! I love mince pies! When it's not christmas I will eat eccles cakes. Mince pies mmmm. Fab poem x
Eccles cakes are the currant choice, going like hot cakes..I made them once at school, very fiddley..have not had once since, mince pies and Eccles cakes are very rich and filling. They should send to to places that need food ...
