Poem -

MIRROR IMAGE

When the fresh young world
Shone gold and green
I ran with you
In fields unseen

Scented with mischief
Perfumed with adventure
Seeped in innocence

And then when the world
Turned red and blue
We were never one
We were ever two

Through friends and lovers
Jobs and child
We were sword and shield
At each others side

Life blessed and cursed
Fortunes came and went
But the thread that bound
Neither frayed or bent

As the hurtling world
Stole us along
We were bass and treble
In life's wild song

Then came the day
You lost your song
And the world turned grey
And the world felt wrong

Then when the world
Turned blacker still
I bade farewell
On that misty hill

Now the aging world
Has lost its sheen
Souls mirror smashed
To smitherines

And at my side
Just a gaping hole
For my beloved twin
The reaper stole.
