MISS GEORGETTE

Once upon a time, in a secret garden

There growing in a fairy ring

Was a beautiful green corgette.

Her name was Miss Georgette.

And one day she thought she`d enter a beauty competition

With her friends for a bet.

As Mr Sun smiled down on her

He praised her perfect beauty.

Then said " I`ll bet you`ll soon be wearing that new shiny crown "

That night she snuggled up, to her friends all nice and warm.

And they slept quite soundly, through to the early dawn.

Then while they were preening

The next day with such care.

She said to her friends " Oh I wish I had hair "

A fairy heard her wish

And granted it with glee.

Georgette looked in the mirror

Then yelled " Oh goodness gracious me!!

I look such a sight! it`s the wrong colour!!

I wish I had kept quiet!

That`s what I get for having vanity!! "

She cried and pleaded for the fairy`s help!

So the fairy gave a little whistle

And was pleased when it turned green.

" Now I`m fit to be seen! "

Then a little buzzy bee who was all stripes and buzz landed on her nose!!

Georgette got such a fright.

" Now you`ve made a big hole right on the tip of my pretty nose!

Look it will be seen, when it comes to my turn! "

Now her cheeks were bright red! Oh they did burn!!

She just sat there and complained so much!

She cried " I`ll be lucky if the judges even take a look! "

But then she had an idea, that she thought was very good!!

She got some soil and gently rubbed it into the hole.

Then got the fairy`s make-up.

It was a beautiful shade of green.

She carefully brushed it on.

Then looked in the mirror.

And happily declared

" Oh that`s brilliant! now I`m fit to be seen "

Then when the judge reached her in the queue

He smiled and then amazed her with 1st prize!!

It made her so happy she didn`t know what to do!

She skipped and danced around all day long.

And smiled so much! it began to hurt.

She ran up to the judge and gave him a big hug

Then kissed him on both cheeks and whispered

" You`ve made me so happy

I can hardly believe I`ve won. Oh thank you ever so much judge Bert "

Then the fairy said " Now that`s magic!! a little bit of help from make-up never hurts "
