Missed Devotion

Young was he who by beauty's glamour called
whilst trying to speak of love his tongue upon stammer stalled
Finding himself awkwardly thus moved
turning to pages upon which his heart was proved
Though year after year that girl he desired
knew not his feelings and so thus expired
One day long into the age of silver and gray
did her hand find a book whose pages fading away
A poem written by a boy who had grown into a man
yet held onto the memory of beauty as best as one can
Seeing her name the title and her face in every word
never did she take the time to let his voice be heard
In regret she cried knowing of his feelings strong
to hold her, to love her, to speak of her in song
