Poem -

Missing

Missing

The days are so painfully patient without you
They are infinite;
a word I never thought I would understand the meaning of.
But I do because here I am,
waiting
waiting
waiting
Until infinity is finally over.

Who knew that time was not a constant?
Who knew that seconds could stretch
And days could wax like the moon
And weeks could become a lifetime
With me becoming older
and weaker
and deader
Until I see you again?
I certainly didn't.

I learned a lot of things while you were gone.
I learned my ears listen for your words
when you aren't there to speak.
I learned my hands reach for yours
even though they pushed me away.
I learned that you were missing
and I was missing
you.
