missions of the heart

you cannot be my sister
and you're more than my best friend
God must have sent you to me
a life for you to mend

we seldom see them coming
His missions of the heart
i believe they're second chances
to create a fresh new start

this life is but a journey
a constant test of faith
it's said He'll not give to us
more than we can take

perhaps He saw me weakened
as i pondered my self-worth
so my dearest Lord has blessed me
with an angel here on earth.
