Mississippi August

The midnight is warm mississippi august.
She lays there asleep beautiful and thoughtless.
A crickets made it's way into the corner of the room.
Its beautuful song it echoes and looms.
In this matinee of miracles sleep is put aside.
By the rules of society tonight I wont abide.
Tonight in conference I'll curse the coming day.
I'll wish it were tonight when tommorrow becomes today.
Maybe i should wake her for we don't have long.
We can leave before the day even realizes that were gone.
Off to mother nature and embrace all that is.
If tonight could just remain it would all make scence.
Darkness be an enemy in the opinion of most.
But I raise my glass to the moon for a toast.
And in return the moon she illuminates my lover.
The night is humid so she sprawles atop the covers.
The dark light reveales features of her body and its curves.
To witness such beauty leaves a void of all words.
God dam these minutes as they make such haste.
To give away such a night would be such a waste.
Though alas, it will end in hours of short few.
Then the sun will come along and it will do what it will do
It will be another memory and spell tonight's end.
Today I will rest and give my heart time to mend.
Though as i lay atop the covers I think of her and the night.
He notices her stare and how hes fixes in her sight.
He wonders if what she's thinking could be the equivalent to the night.
