Mona

Mona

by Gabriel Magno

February 18, 2015

Here at the airport, with tickets bound for Barcelona

I wait in anticipation, for my lustful lover Mona

Time is fleeting tick tock tick tock

Hands slowly move around the clock

Her taxi late, ah yes that’s it

That has to be I must admit

No call, no text, no message still

As time goes by I’m feeling ill

To think she may not show at all

As I look down the busy hall

Of people smiling, holding hands

Yearning to fly to foreign lands

The plane has flown, my mood morose

As I watch stunned, the gate did close

I walk in anger as all is lost

Without my Mona I pay the cost

Of nights of sin, we both did share

While her new husband waited there

Alone at home without a clue

As Mona sinned and Mona blew

Apart his dreams of Mona by his side

To take him through the fast and rising tide

Of life’s trials and tribulations

That many feel across the nation

Yet still I hope of brighter days ahead

And dream of Mona lying bare across my bed
