The Monster

The Monster

It's taken over her, consumed her very being

No longer her voice that talks, no longer her own eyes seeing

The little monster creeps under her skin, where he leaves his little scars

Eyes hollow with unguilty sin, her mind wandered far

I feel the fuel with the ignition

With a strike igniting my ambition

So I ask, with curiosity ablaze and dread carefully caged

What would drive her to this point of ruin?

What horrible things must she be doing?

Through turpentine enamel, she replies

Remember that snake from Adam and Eve

Who whispered his corruption amongst the apple trees

I gave in to indignation

I gave up on understanding

I went through with no ambition

I'm no princess, this is no mansion

We've all got our role to play and our parts are all picked out

Now let me waste away, I won't make it very loud

I felt the Monster story was terrific and applied to many areas of the authors life besides what she intended.
