Monticello

Monticello

Time
Has
preserved
you
secrets
kept within
the tunnel

Literary and Legal
Genius
once
inhibited
your hall ways
providing
a permenmant
influence
to our
citizens
and Nation

Though critics
will continue
to try to
smear
the creator
of your
foundation
Truth
will always
prevail
over
Stalinist's
tactics
and Anti Constitutionlist's
progressive
scheme..........................................

Wow GREG!!..... there's apparently so much we have in common.....I have been to Monticello many times...... it is pure genius to behold.... My family still have homes in Arlington & Alexandria Virginia..... this is such a brilliant write.... in that.... it's not just about Monticello...... more about the man and what he represents to the rest of world.... and your assessment is correct in my humble opinion......EVERYONE has opinions about the man..... and they come at him from every direction..... but one thing stands true.... He was friggin' genius in several arenas...... great write man!!...... Love to you and yours!!......ttyl. ..T xo

Lol growing up in Richmond, I have been to Monticello at least 18 times!!! We use to take visiting relatives there.  When I was a teen I jokingly stated that I had been there so many times I could be a tour guide.
Now and days there is a growing progressive movement in which those who have hidden political agendas are trying to change history and smear our forefathers.  It is sad!  This is what I was trying to portray in this poem.  It is true Thomas Jefferson had slaves but he actually was against slavery.  His thoughts and ideologies were beyond his time.
Hope you enjoyed this.  More to come.
