Moon C/ut in Half

Sitting, silent, stupid, sulking
waiting for it all
Wanting pancakes the size of the moon
when the plate is in front of me
and the moon has been cut in half
One for each of us

I cry and cry out to the stars
to drag me back to my dreams
encase me in their amniotic womb that fits me so well
soak me in motherhood
age, and wear me out
until I too am forced to be born again
I don't like to do that all at once
I like things that crumble and peak in rhythm, things never quite getting out of hand
I love the feeling of the moonlight on my fingers as I make a mess of the nighttime
the only one given to me tonight

precious, glistening, succulent
the day is always mine for the time being
all I have and the only thing I can rely on having

save me lord for I have sinned
remind me that home is feeling peace, knowing how to balance out my
life until it is
darned and calm like today's freshly ironed linens

oh god,
oh god!
I love you
