More than meets the eyes

Life is not breath alone
Time is not a sea with broken branches, floating
Light is not enough to ease our hunger pangs;
 For wisdom and understanding
We can be hurt by the hand of destiny, and
Frightened by the cold indifference of circumstance
 We can gaze awestruck
At stars and constellations
And not feel like raindrops in comparison
 Destined to fly away on the wings of a raven, or
Snow in the wind—whose end is evaporation
We are magic
Mysteries still unfolding
Fertile fields to walk on
Stories yet untold
More than meets the eyes.
Yet, we can still stop and look around, and
Lose ourselves in the sweet distraction
 Of a perfect summer day
