genocide in Darfur goes on and girls are kidnapped in Nigeria
children are blown up in Gaza and Ebola now in Liberia
Somalian children in need of vaccination for measles
medicine is scarce all around with equipment and needles
hatred between Shiites and Sunnis in the Muslim world
bombs rockets and grenades used for innocent targets hurled
Catholics and baptists with all their pointless differences
like conflicts within Jews and other religious instances
poverty and drug abuse continues in our own back yard
freedom of speech clouded with patriot act is on guard
the aid for other nations is a matter of national interests
who to side with and help is short of a political mistress
weapons of mass destruction we never found but was an excuse
whether to ally with or kill for assorted reasons we pick and choose
three billion of our tax dollars to a country with no mercy
while social security depletes and the disabled is left thirsty
political parties claim and may scream out "change"
Guantanamo bay never closed and tortures are still arranged
republicans and democrats always at each others throats
elaborate speeches and lectures all to get my vote
used to think between them there was a big difference
carries on the disadvantaged and needy with their insistence
while my love for this country is still truly endless
I wish of a world and a nation somewhat selfless
media and news call out that my vote still counts
each country has an agenda and for ascendance it still mounts

WOW BB!!.....intense!.....but truly profound and important subject matter........and although you could look at this as demoralizing and depressing......I choose to see it the other way........the fact that you're writing on this.........makes me think that there are others with these concerns too.......and hopefully choose to DO something about it......even a small voice can turn the tide.......or start a revolution............GREAT WRITE.........loved this B.............smiles...........tony xx

Thank you both. I think most of us agree what is "right" and what is "fair". But at the end of the day, no matter where, countries and governments will do what they have to do for their own interests. It's always been this way and there's no way around it.
