Morning Meditation

Oh the sheer design: to thirst Spirit; and love Christ. My Ghost,
A flaming fountain; and so much to disappoint. Feel the fire,
My light; and walk the skies, my love; and dance the Jordan.
I grip a myrtle; and whittle life; and so heart a phantom; and
So deep a wound. Every verse, a revelation; and every tear,
A revolution. The pain, ascetic: the grain is Blood; and soils
Rich, a fertile heart. What was David: the wars of prayer; and
What was Samson: a troubled man; and both the light; and
Both the Sword. Sprinkle faith, my bleeding mind; and
Fathom night, my burning ghost; and Mt. Sinai, mosaic stones;
And burning Light, the plight of Rome. We trek and fall; and
Fall and rise; and Sun to earth—the moon and sky. A fire stirs,
A humble man; and human thoughts, a field of sand; and yet
And still, a violent war: my mind to burn—my soul to floor. Â
