Mother

A banyan tree that shields from tropical summer sun
A symbol of selfless love and sacrifice
A preserver of values that modernism has shun
No praise is enough, no gratitude suffice
Her love for her children is like blossom of springs
An angel she appears, a fairy she seems
It’s a symphony for ears, the lullaby she sings
The lullaby that drifts you in the valley of dreams
A teacher, a guide, a philosopher, a friend
An architect, a builder of beauty and grace
A garden of roses that fragrance send
Serenity of a lake where ducklings race
She suckles her babies with white blood of breasts
The hearts yearn for her bosom’s paradise
She strains every nerve, sacrifices her rests
Burning midnight oil with sleepy eyes
The special mothers that God has blessed
Maryam, Khadija, Fatema and Asiya
Women par excellence, mothers at best
Whether in Africa, Asia or the West
Mothers are an oasis in the desert of life
Their love and passion isn’t for display
Chained to the oar in your perils and strife
A shower of rain on a hot summer day

Greetings Mohammad,
Its been a while my friend......A poem well deserving for any and all mothers....A very inspiring
poem from a very noble son to his mother...Avery powerful poem depicting all
the many attributes that accompany all mothers...most of which,(the attributes), goes unnoticed
but all well deserving and worth all praise, she gives her all and expects nothing in return except to know thatyou the providee has been given your fill and has been deemed content...Every day should be our mothers day although it is not it can be for any mother that plays host to this poems reading.....Great
poem in deed and May God bless your dearly departed mother on this day and all days to come as well..
With kind regards,
Jimmy

Dear Mohammad
What a deserving poem to every mother out there, mothers truly are the crown of our world, and a window to the world of beauty. A mother is truly the only person in our lives, whom will never hurt, cheat, deceive, or lie to us, except to birth us, love us, nurture us, sing to us the promises of the future written in the stars, teach us, guide us, stand by us and draw the wealth of their being on to us, be it they are here or up above in heaven, their God like essence will forever murmur in our hearts, and they will never leave us, as its obvious in Dear Mohammads beautiful and tender words for his forever beloved mother.
I am forever grateful to my mother, and all the mothers in every corner of the world.
Kindest regards
Shirley

Mohammad,
Can I call you brother? I'm new here and am glad I found this site. I've been reading many of the poems here (commenting on a few) but for the first time, I'm blown away. My mother passed away when I was 15 (I'm 44 now) and sometimes I have to be reminded of who gave birth to me- and how she's related to her sisters who gave birth to all of us. I have a difficult time writing personal pieces- I need to hear the voices of others whose experiences are a lot more innocent than my own. I lost my father when I was 18. Your words made me feel like a son again. Thank you!
