Poem -

Motherless

A life that feels quite empty
A heart not completely whole
A child left behind
By an uncaring soul
There is no pill or trick
To cure a broken heart
A child without a mother
A life beginning to start
To watch as she crosses country
Chasing different men
Starting different families
And making different friends
A call every now-and-again
Is all two children get
From a woman who dares say
“I’m still your mother yet”
A mother that lives
Six hundred miles away
A father that is struggling
To find his own way
Two children in the middle
Wondering why no one will stay
