Chipping
a way
at you
in a
Pitched Black
Foxhole
I was told
by the XO
that though
your contents
were frozen
You were
still digestible
I don't know
about that.....
I just remember
you exited
the same
way
you
entered
A Solid Brick..........................
I can say
I did not
become
a better
man
for knowing
you........
With that said
I did however
managed
to learn
to barter
like the MASH Character
"Radar"
with the
Mess Sergeant....
This
in return
nearly
always
ensured
me
a warm
meal.....
Decades have
now
gone by,
and I still
do not
miss you...
Yet the discipline
instilled in
me during
our
time
has
managed
to
develop
an
Intrinsic Motivation
that
requires
me
to always
be on time,
have my
shoes
shined,
Clothes Pressed
and above
all
coaxes
me
to STAND
rather than
kneel
as
a
MAN.....................................................

to a giant life lesson
From the Lord above I could
Tell you some stories lol
I once was lost but now I am found I once was blind but
Jesus sete free I have been on the straight and narrow path
Since I was a youth although
I vered of the path a couple
Of times but I have gone to God
With a contrite heart
The Lord looks on the inside
Not the outward appearance
Do I sound like a preacher lol
at one point I my life that was
My ambition to become a missionary but could not
Afford Bible schooling
Anyway the Lord can meet anybody
Half way I am living proof of that

Thank you for your testimony, I was a Missionary when I was young, I have been blessed in having a lot of opportunities. My belief system has not wavered
This poem reminded me so much of my father- a Military man who carried the things he had learned with him throughout his life- I love personification when used in poetry and this piece is a real delight to read and love the humour running through it- great balance! Great piece! x
