The lady that was my favorite singer when I was just a kid
Is now in her bed and is on the road to Heaven's Gates - Amen
There where her Heavenly Father is waiting to let her in
God's wisdom is beyond man's - so I wonder if he will ask for a song to open the gates and let her in?
He's certainly listened to her praise songs in her Daddy's church since she was a kid

If I could go back and be a fly on the wall
Mom and I dancing having a ball
Dancing and singing: Respect, Chain of Fools, Do Right Woman - Do Right Man....God she was good - I knew it and I was just a kid
She's the only star that I'd wait in line for a autograph any day
But that day never came but her music is stored up in my heart to forever stay

I've never lost that love for her voice - doesn't matter what she sang
She's the Queen of Soul today and everyday
Touching my spirit - jumping up to this day when I hear her sing
And I begin to sing and dance like yesterday

I'm thankful to God for the guidance in her life He gave
To bless us all that could hear - that singing voice will never disappear
