MUMBLING LADY

Walking alongside pigeons in Kings Cross Square
Mumbles to herself life isn't very just and fair
Walking in my direction with pleading sad eyes
Asking for change for a coffee and some fries

I shake my head to her and say not today
With that she is gone and is on her way
Another person to ask she doesn't stand still
Mumbling now louder saying it's purely God's will

A businessman now comes to sit next to me
Can't be bothered with the mumbling she
Says to me she's an eyesore and a utter disgrace
Blot on the landscape of the fine human race

The mumbling lady is now chatting to police
Accused of vagrancy and upsetting the peace
The pigeons now gone and taken to flight
No longer a mumbling lady she's out of sight
