My Baby Boy

My Baby Boy

I admit
when I thinkĀ
of you
A little 6 yr old
boy, blonde hair
and a crew cut
with his hand extended
for my protection
is pictured in myĀ
mind

I admit
this is
what travels
within my
mind

Yet reality
states
You are
a man,
a strong
man ,
6ft 3
who towers
over me

So recently
when you
chose
trouble
I know
you feltĀ
betrayed
when IĀ
refused
to extend
out my hand
for
protection

Yes I did
refuse............

however
it wasnot
because
IĀ
Iacked
the
love or
support
that a
Father has,
Rather I made
the difficult
decision
to sit inĀ
the trenches
and allow
you the opportunity
to stand

Stand you
did
Accepting
the consequences
in the process
A learning
curve

Please know
You haveĀ
nothing toĀ
prove
to me
as YouĀ
have made
me proud
to what you
have become,
and though
I still think
of you
asĀ  that little
baby boy
with out stretched
hands,
I admit that this
is justĀ
an Illusion
for you
are a
MAN,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
