My Butterfly

My Butterfly

Do you ever feel stuck?
Like the world is a blur, and you're the only one standing still?
Like you’re a scientist, trying to find a rare butterfly at the edge of a cliff
The butterfly is there alright, just out of reach
If you try and catch it, you’ll surely fall into oblivion, but if you don’t, you’ll fail and lose everything
Like you’re the centre of a clock
With three hands each moving the same way but at different speeds
All that stress, don’t you wish it would just “STOP!!!!!”
And there it is
All three hands, still as stone
But wait, can you hear it? A small ticking noise
A reminder that I’m still there
Still looking for my butterfly
