MY CHILD April 22, 2008

In your world there’s only mystery,
In you’re face my own generational History,
In your eye’s Imagination is running wild,
But this is the tell-tale sign of a child.
Your soul dances on the very innocence of adventure and true wonders,
For you do not know of the worlds plunder's.
You see the world as a bunch of big playgrounds,
With bright lights and loud sounds.
You don’t see the dangers, all the strangers, and traps,
You don’t think people are evil, or truly, understand the words we say,
Trick, snatch or kidnap.
But as a mother I know the worst,
For I have seen it first.
How the world will lead you a stray,
No matter how much you believe or pray.
For now we live in the devils day,
And my child I fear and pray for you to be okay.

I found your poem, My Child written with so much feeling, also very true we live in very dangerous times, It not the world I grew in as a Child my childhood was a much safer one, I thank you for the opportunity of reading your excellent poem.
Thank you Johnny, you're absolutely right, this poem I wrote 10yrs ago, and it still applies today, being a mother and a poet, I wanted to express how beautiful a child's innocence is but for a mother you see how friendly and open they are, its wonderful, but also your always worried who will take advantage of them, and the world has changed. It was safer when I was growing up and now with technology it feels like you never fully know if they are safe.
Thank you for your compliments. ❤️
Thanks for your reply appreciated, I'm new to poetry writing, my inspiration to write sadly though came through the loss of my wife
Helen died Dec-23rd-2017 after twenty years of marriage, so I chose this site in hope of getting a poem published in her memory, having been scamed few times, so happy I'm now getting my poems out there at last Well I shall be reading more of your poem, following with interest.
Kind regards Johnny
I'm sorry to hear of your wife's passing, she must have been so wonderful for you to start writing poetry in dedication of her. I will take the time to read it. I'm glad I found this site too, I wasn't sure about posting my poetry, as any artist I feel it could be better.Â
Thank you for sharing your inspiration. Much love to you.
