My creatures of the night 🦉🦊

I heard a’hooting loud and clear
I saw an Owl in flight
So I crouched behind an old oak tree to seek a second sight..
Well I waited in the moonlit night and I watched the twinkling stars
That constellation shone so bright with Jupiter and Mars..
My jolly joy jumped to jubilation as an Owl went gliding by
Just above my hidden head I swear I heard it sigh..
“Twit t’woo” my Tawny Owl flew from a hidey hole
And in his claws with all his might he clasped a tiny vole..
Then suddenly my silence amidst this eerieness was shattered with a screech
Another creature of the night appeared within my reach..
Of course I knelt as low as I could crouch behind a dry stone wall
And ‘Mercy me’ I sensed a smell.. I heard a Foxes call..
This rusty, red vixen could not be hoodwinked coz she was sneakingly sly
She stalked, stealthily and stopped infront of me where we stared eye to eye..
‘Golly gosh’ I am at one with Mother nature..at such a remarkable sight
That Tawny Owl and sly old Fox certainly made my night...

A joy to read Jill your well written nature poem and what a picture and what a harmonious looking pair.
