My Dearest Rosemary

My Dearest Rosemary

My dearest Rosemary

Every time I stroll through my garden

I am hit by your lovely perfume

A constant

Yet refreshing reminder

As to why I brought you home all those years ago

It seemed just like yesterday

When I first saw you at the Scarborough Fair

With your sisters, Sage and Thyme

You looked so beautiful among them

I knew you had to be mine

Even though you are without your sisters

You seem to be doing just fine

You seem content amongst the bearded irises

With your neighbor mountain mint nearby

As the months roll by

I find myself admiring you

More and more each day

Appreciating your beauty

Appreciating the many benefits that you provide me

From the shine in my hair

To the bountiful spices you provide my meals

You are a gift amongst the garden

A goddess amongst herbs everywhere

Don’t ever let anyone tell you different

Don’t ever let anyone over water you

Don’t ever let anyone try to move you

You are home

This is where you belong

You’ve laid down your roots

You embrace Lady Winter each year with open arms

My dearest Rosemary

You are part of my family

You are alive

You are well

I truly look forward to the many years to come.
