MY DEFENCE LAWYER

 
My defence lawyer experts claim is a clever bloke
Expressing reasonable doubt is his masterstroke 
Here I stand accused of murdering my spouse
The prosecution say one evening at our house

My motive they tell the jury is perfectly clear 
Their side of the story causes me anxiety and fear
Throughout it all my defence lawyer was calm and still
Not sure if that is part of his masterstroke and skill ?

When he got up to speak he told of my alibi 
Explained to the jury I had no reason to lie
All done with a clear and concise monotone
His delivery address is particularly well known

The judge sent the jury to ponder and deliberate 
My defence lawyer said we won't have long to wait
Sure enough the jury soon returned to court
The verdict they gave was two words in short 

Not guilty the burly foreman said in a quivering voice
Listening to my defence lawyer they had no choice 
I was relieved and was now free to go 
How it all happened I still don't know
