My Girl

You could walk on water, you made the flowers bloom,
Like a puppet master so adept, you controlled the moon.
You could change the weather, drought became monsoon,
When tides would strip the beach of sand, you'd create a dune.
You chased down every rainbow, 'til you found the pot of gold,
When winter showed it's wicked hand, you didn't feel the cold.
You traversed four corners of the earth, heard stories yet untold,
For every hand without a partner, you were one to hold.
You could catch the wind, command the ocean's tides,
The wandering dandelion seed, you'd steer it as it glides.
You could fly to soaring heights, by cloudy mountainsides,
You walked the whole nine yards in life, conquered all divides.
You could see the future, you travelled space and time.
Like a little star you were the light, that never failed to shine.
Helpless 'til our eyes first met, like a clock without a chime,
I am merely a shadow once again, no longer you are mine.
I visit heaven in dreams each night, and hope I'm not too late,
To see my little angel and, precious memories recreate.
I will long for you until such time, I no longer have to wait,
The day I stumble upon the keys, to Saint Peter's Pearly Gates.
