Suicidal Sweetheart

Suicidal Sweetheart

There stirs a fearsome storm tonight, a storm without a breeze

Leaves hang still so peacefully, silent on the trees

The crescent moon is radiant, it subdues the dark with ease

A backdrop so very tranquil, how it flatters to deceive

As I step inside the old front door, and put away my keys

The stillness that impressed outside, it only misconceives

I consign it to oblivion, when I hear their chilling pleas

But I'll never forget my family there, heartbroken on their knees

The look upon their tortured faces, is one of disbelief

As I search the room for answers, and beg them, "Tell me please"

My mother's voice is shaky, her eyes filling as she grieves

"Your little brother's sleeping, he is troubled as he dreams"

The very cockles of my heart, do shrivel up and freeze

When we chance upon the goodbye note, he writes us as he leaves

I've made some tough decisions, but none should be like these

The inconceivable questions, to the only answer he believes

My very being is crippled now, like a boat by rebel seas

There's no holding back the flood of tears, as they drip upon my sleeves

The shrilling pitch of a phone is brief, my mother cries as she receives

News we've all been hoping for, thank God for he still breathes.

A new leaf buds on an age old tree,

The welcome return of spring.
