MY LAST HOORAY
HOW THE MIGHTY HAS FALLEN

Once upon a time my leaves were greenÂ
Polished with beauty and strengthÂ
My limbs we're un disturbed by the wind
I was a sanctuary to tired wings
And a platform where birds did sing
My roots were firmly plantedÂ
As I towered above many my peersÂ
Sheltering the timid from the pouring rainÂ
Under my leaves though stainedÂ
By the suns inflicted pain
I had value and purposeÂ
With confidence I stoodÂ
Now my beauty has faded
As time has changedÂ
My once glorious looksÂ
But until the hurricane sings
Or the earth dances beneath my rootsÂ
I shall continue extending my limbs in mercyÂ
To the wounded in battle and weary in flightÂ
This is my last will and testamentÂ
With my mustered breath I declareÂ
I will stand my grounds in battleÂ
Until I fall with a last hooray.
