My Little Girl

My Little Girl

She came into a world of disarray.

But her manifestation briefly made sense of it all.

The sacred breath of life was received with much relief.

Her presence gleamed with innocence and love, carrying the much needed understanding into this life

The witnessing of this miracle was followed by an awe and humbleness.

With this wonder, gratefulness swelled into this heart.

The opening of her indigo eyes could not be compared to anything else seen before.

The first embrace of this treasure could not have been more divine.

The bond between father and daughter would forever be.

The adornment was complete.

Walking gently, hand in hand, were moments that should have been longer.

Growing up too fast is the thought the loving parent will brood over and over.

Sharing her discoveries, her amazement and wonders of her little world,

Awakened my own innocence of long ago. How I wish these moments would have been savored.

As time goes its natural way, the innocence of my little girl is passing,

Giving rise to these embedded worries, which all loving parents must endure.

How grateful I am, that I had the strength to be there, when needed.

She is now on her way, a child that is no more.

And only now, regrets and doubts flood the heart and soul of this loving guardian.

For that stirring question that was sure to come must now be faced.

Always asking oneself; have I done my utmost as a loving and caring parent, with this gift from above?

Wondering, will my little girl remember me.
