MY LOCAL TAXI RANK

MY LOCAL TAXI RANK

Saturday night in my city it was wet and dank
I made my way to the local taxi rank
Given a number and had to wait my turn
Another part of city life I was about to learn

I saw youngsters worse for wear the perils of drink
A man being sick causing an awful stink
Two boys looked like they were heading for a fight
Just another slice of city life on a Saturday night

Cardboard boxes of food held onto for dear life
Cared for and loved like a husband to his wife
During my stay I saw the police attend
All that I saw was too much to comprehend

How do people end up in such an awful state?
I will certainly remember my Saturday night taxi wait
