My Mind

My Mind

My mind is full
Of mixed-up things
Like balls of string
And fairy wings
Like a piece of twine
And a bitter wine
Or a golden mine
Of secrets
Like a lazy day
Just whiled away
And a baby’s laugh
And a wooden staff
Or an arrow shaft
Of gold

My mind is full
Of memories
Shelved, piled
Stacked, filed
Folded up together
Like an origami crane
That takes flight
In the night
As a dream
