My Muscovy Ducks

My Muscovy Ducks

My Muscovy ducks are flying I need to clip their wings
Mind you they wont fly far away the faithful feathered things
Our bungalow is at the bottom of a hill away from my little town
and on the very odd occasion one of our ducks wander down
Well we will get a message on Facebook from people that we know
friends and familiar faces from the little town below

“Have you lost any lodgers that hang out on your park ? A black and white ugly duck is making our Doberman bark”
So we have to go and get it and put it in our car
In a box on the back seat it isn’t very far
In the summertime our ducks stay in our camping field coz they get so well fed
But our site is shut in the wintertime
This is when our duck must dread

Never-the-less they all survive coz we buy them lots of corn and give them all our waste and scraps every night and morn
We have had a multitude of Muscovy ducks all of our married life
So that will be forty two years in July when I wed and became a wife
If we didn’t hear quacking in our garden then there would definately be something wrong
At our time of life they are just a part of our swansong

Good work Jill. I have owned two ducks in my life and we didn't have a fence so they got out and often in the road. We also have red fox and a slew of raptors where I live. I worried a fox would get them, so we got them a new home. I had fun owning the ducks, although they were so skittish. I tried and tried to get close to them, but all my ducks would do is scream and holler and follow me around the yard. Nice poem Jill. Congrats on the contest nomination!
