My mystery box❤️

I found a little box
As I strolled along the golden sand
Something square & silver caught my eye
So I picked it up with my sandy hand

What an earth was this box for ?
Who had put it there ?
Perhaps it had got washed up on the salty shore from goodness knows where

Well there was noone else around
With only the welcoming waves as sound
So I thought I’d like to keep this box, not leave it on the ground

The trouble is it had a keyhole but there wasn’t any key
& Coz the box did rattle,
Curiousty bothered me

Oh how very fascinated I immediately felt
So I fixed the box lid to my waist
A tiny handle slipped through my belt

I couldn’t wait to go home to search for a minute key
I always hoarded small keys as they captivated me

So as soon as I was in my house
I trawled through my bag of keys
& To my astonishment & amazement
I opened the silver box with ease

Wow, I was in an instant state of absolute delight
As I lifted the little lid my eyes did feast upon something bright

Oh My goodness there was a genuine gold chained locket
It was heart shaped & enveloped in a shiny, yellow velvet pocket

How wonderful I thought, this find was simply meant for me
I adore golden hearts with their simplicity

Can you imagine my good fortune ?
Now I will always possess a mystery
Whom & when did this belong to ?
Were they sailing on a ship at sea ?

Perhaps there was a courting couple
Her lover placed my locket on her pretty dress
She was so beautiful & elegant
With a shiny halo of finesse

I know they would find happiness
As the ship sank to the sea bed
I think these lovers will now be mermaids with pretty corals on their head❤️
