My Own Beauty

Am I but an ornament?
A doll for their wall shelf?
Beautiful figure
Nice legs
Too thin
Bad teeth
Messy hair
Did you gain weight?
Their words, like flying darts
Sting as they strike my body
But they don't penetrate my skin
They fall into the mud where they belong
And I walk away to search for open fields
Of wildflowers who aren't competing
To bloom the most brilliant petals
Where I am free to be beautiful in my own way
Not in the way they think I should be

Pinned this! Beauty is soooo much more than skin deep. True beauty lies in the heart x
I absolutely agreeđ it makes me happy that you could connect with my words
A fascinating poem Brittany, beauty pleases the eye, but does the eye reflect the soul´s willingness to share love and light? Thank you for sharing it. Hope you are feeling better. Take care. xx
