My Prayer for Peace

My Prayer for Peace
 
This is my prayer for peace
For all wars in the world to cease
 
I can remember when I was young
When hardly a soul owned a gun
 
Those were the days so carefree
Now battleships line the world’s seas
 
Pray we bring back those bygone days
When the innocent won’t be the ones to pay
 
Overhead there is a thundercloud looming
In the Middle East the bombs are booming
 
Brother’s sisters and families torn apart
All I am asking is that we open our heart
 
We can all surrender to ever-loving peace
Bringing an end to war and disease
 
Acid rains and hunger poverty kill
This is certainly not our God’s will
 
A Need for peace is the moral to my story
We can bring this world to it’s shining glory
 
Father shine your holy light on this earth
Take us back to the time of your son’s birth
 
Bring the brotherhood back to mankind
We are all waiting on a holy sign
 
Bring love and peace back to the blue sky
And show us that our hope is still alive
 
The golden shores are yours and mine
God Let the rays of peace finally shine
 
May God’s light flood peaks and valleys with love
As we grace our holy savior from above
