My Second Father

Soon after pledging my heart to Linda, I fell in love again;
With a most beautiful person, a paragon among all men!
For the day I met Jack, her Father, our Souls bonded instantly;
Fate had provided me with a treasure, “My Second Father” to be!

I’d not had one for over fifteen years, since nineteen seventy-seven;
Yet sitting right across from me, was this gift sent straight from Heaven!
We laughed and joked together, he too had been sent a special lad;
For he never had had a son to love, a boy to call him Dad!

Through the years, our love grew stronger, “buddy buddies” all the way;
So my precious “second Father”, I honor you this day!
I am so thankful for the joy you brought me, twelve years of purest bliss;
On this day of remembering my Fathers, the two of you I dearly miss!
