Mycellium words
The picture was taken by my wife last autumn (fall 2020)
As a white tower standing,
as if guarding the mould,
gills ready to spore the world,
as a part of the power of three,
circle coming to tree –
communing with the moon,
answering to the law of seasons,
this mushroom breaks down
to feed the forest wordlessly.
Rain softly kissing the dead leaves
my mind in peace on the
forest floor, feeling
mycelium wedding roots
growing trees, giving leaves
in return.
Thus too
my soul calls to my heart
to feed words to my mind
to grow
into sentences towards the light
that I might live
my power of three
poetic circle
from now to will be
and coming round to this
second
time and time again
and each season brings
clearer understanding
and a larger forest.

What a beautiful read to start my day with John. I loved how you entwined effortlessly the number three and nature. Very significant in numerology. Three overlapping circles which creat the first triangle and also seen as a tree. The tree that connects heaven and earth. I loved how you brought the reader through nature, like I was meditating in the forest myself. The power nature has on the creative mind sings from your beautiful crafted words. I also loved the rotation of the seasons. The circle being such a significant symbol. Your last section actually took my thoughts to my belated husband who had an eco funeral. So he doesn’t have a headstone, he has a tree. One day the place he is resting in will be a forest. Something he strongly wanted. So thank you for reminding me of the beauty of that. This was a  truly lovely readÂ
Gwen :)Â
Hi, Gwen, your comment moves me to tears. I am sorry to hear about your husband, though I am sure he has the best of resting places in the world. Yes, the Power of Three is also the strongest in witchcraft - it is indeed a meditation and a continuation of the struggle for understanding Life (my own and in general). I am deeply grateful for this comment (just like for yours with Max's The Wrong Way Up - to which I totally agreed). Keep safe!
This is a truly spiritual write. So powerful. It is almost like a spell ...and then I read your reply to Gwen's beautiful comment ...so, not a spell but definitely a spellbinding poem. I absolutely love this. It is beautiful, it is pure and it is powerful. Great work, it really is x
Hi, there, you make the mystic in me glow in the dark. Thank you for these kind words.Â
I love this - I've recently got into researching about mushrooms and I love how you've connected them both. xxÂ
Thank you, mushrooms sre on the menu straight from the forest (boletus edibile, basically - it is the witchy wife who harvests them and trsches me what she learns during the day while I supply the brass for to pay for our life and get to write a lot outside of work. Have you ever heard of Paul Stametz? Research him and learn, the wife would sayÂ
