To My Grandson

My life has been full of sadness and pain,

I had reached a point, where I thought, I can’t do this anymore,

I don’t want to be here anymore.

I thought God had given up on me,

Then, he gave me a gift so precious words cannot describe.

He gave me a beautiful little grandson,

His smile when he sees me and his little fingers

 curling around mine as if to say

“Please don’t go Granny I need you.”

Every little sound you make, your first word you will say

and those little legs of yours taking your first unsteady steps

will be in my memory forever.

My heart is so full of unending love for you,

at times it feels like it may burst.

I treasure the moments we spend together.

I know now that when the time is right

God will answer my prayers.

But in the meantime he has given me you.

I will love and cherish you until the end of my days,

and, hope that you will do the same.
