Mystery

Mystery

No one really knows
what tomorrow holds.
We defy the fear
by pretending
we do.

We plan.
We gather.

Data and Theory.

History, experience.

Facts and figures.

We go boldly,
with knowledge
and expert courage.

Yet some things happen
we never expect.
We loom in the mirror
and say,
"I expected that".
And the mirror lies
as we expected it would.

Some triumph.
Bawdy in their know-it-all pose.
They laugh at those who see it real,
who somehow face the truth,
that Lennon was right...
"Tomorrow Never Knows".

Hi Robert, really, really enjoyed this!  It was almost as though I was saying those words myself- they certainly resonated with me! Lovely work.
