Actually GLOBAL inflation, which extends far beyond the borders of the United States, has it's genesis in the GLOBAL economic shutdowns of 2020-2021 due to COVID... In order to keep businesses afloat during that grim time, governments(the Federal Reserve in the USA) had to print large sums of currency to disburse to it's citizens and businesses who were stuck at home during these many months to keep them financially afloat.. These massive financial expenditures combined with supply shortages and pent up demand being unleashed when economies reopened in the second half of 2021 is the core cause of GLOBAL inflation..While GLOBAL inflation is easing at a painstakingly slow rate from it's peak in 2021, it's going to take many years to get back the very low levels of the prior 30 years we had pre pandemic..No politician or political party can wave a magic wand to make GLOBAL inflation go away overnight, but it does make for great political ammunition for whatever party was out of power when inflation hit in 2021 because most people these days prefer simple scapegoat explanations instead of the extremely boring and drawn out economic reality I just bored you with..
