Nanny Years Ago

Nanny Years Ago

What was the best time, graduation, female admiration,
now you're equipped to face the world but not enough,
I'd like some of the old adrenalin back, stop moaning,
now it says: 'Hello son,' it's my mother I'm phoning.

I hear the admonitions: 'You're wicked, why is that?'
''I f you don't behave, I'll give you a 'dough boy' (smack);
she clicks her lips after swallowing a black magic chocolate,
peers towards the sky with the look like heaven can wait.

We go to the bio after queuing so long, Sitting Bull,
I duck from the arrows coming towards me, after tea;
my mother sits in her chair with Peter Pan collar, court shoes,
that timeless expression that knew all of my troubles.

'You behave yourself boy, when I think you've got a nerve,
give my love to beautiful Anne, she's more than you deserve.
