Native American Love Story

From the clouds beyond the mountains
That reach up to the sky.
In the heavens far above them.
My native princess she does lie. When the heavens send the snowflakes
From the skies unto the ground
They ease my Β saddened spirit.
Kissing my soul without a sound.I remember when I first saw her
by the waters crystal clear.
By the waters where she was bathing
not seeing I was nearShe was swimming in the waters
With the grace of the running deer
I watched her in the waters
Transfixed upon the ground.
deep inside the silent forest.
Not a murmur not a sound. She saw that I was watching.
She walked naked to the shore.
My braves heart she had taken.
The forest creatures watched in awe
She looked deep into my eyes
All my love is what she saw.In the forest glade we married.
Cutting fingers with a knife
As our blood it flowed together.
We became a Man and WifeI carried her as a feather light.
To the bearskin in my tipi.
To the bearskin I had hunted.
That my knife had killed for she.We lay together every moon
As she gave herself to me.
The Great Spirit smiled upon us
She gave my son to me.In the winter skies the snows came.
In the frozen forest down below.
My Native Princess she was taken
By the spirit in the sky
I must stay alone until the day I die.I stand by the gleaming waters.
The waters crystal clear.
And watch the rippling river.
As it takes away my tears.
Apologies from the heart
To Mr. Longfellow
