NEVER AGAIN

Vroom, vroom,
listen to that sound
engine revving,
exhaust loud
Helmet which
I borrowed from my brother
Bike brought
By my lovely sweet mother
Legs spread wide over both sides
Such power held between my thighs
Tee shirts and shorts,
Seemed good at the time
Kick into gear,
Time for my first ride
Twist of the throttle
Power band hit,
Crap myself as
The wheel starts to lift
Push my weight forwardĀ
Wheel hits the groundĀ
Nobody saw meĀ
I look around
Spinning off now
Down the lanes
trees whizz past in a blurĀ
I love the feeling of the freedomĀ
As the wind blows through my hair,
Hitting seventy
coming to a bend
Banking tight right
followed by sharp left
knee nearly touching the ground
Powering out into the straightĀ
Car pulls out,
tried to brake,too late
Hits car side on,
heads in a blur
thrown Into the air
like being shot from a cannon
Hitting the ground
not making a sound
Bones breaking,
with an eerie snap
Skin ripped from boneĀ
as if being peeled
Like a rack of kebab
Coming to rest,
hoping Iām not dead
Looking down
skin hanging off,
bones protruding
Snapped, sticking out
Elbows have gone
just chipped bone remains
Legs pitted
with a machine gun of stones
Heart racing,
adrenaline pumping
As blood pumps from my leg
Hurry up ambulance
I'll or soon Iāll be dead
Next time you decide to go out on your bike
Leathers and boots might be tight
Still not guaranteed to save your lifeĀ
But better on than off in the long run
Fun in the sun is no fun if not wearing your leathers
Itās your life be responsible
Wear the proper attire
They might just save your life
